Millefiori is a glass-working process that results in distinctive designs on glass. The name, coined in the mid-1800s from the Italian words "mille," meaning thousand and "fiori," meaning flowers, came to describe multi-colored glass beads that were previously referred to as mosaic beads. Examples of mosaic beads date back to the 5th century, however, the most frequent association is with Venetian glassware. The most common modern application of this technique uses polymer clay and results in the beautiful, tiny flowered patterns from which it gets its name.

Hematite is thought to help with balance -- both physical and mental. It is also said to enhance personal magnetism and optimism!
